We are considering the purchase of a 97 Ford Super Duty bucket truck. The truck is equipped with a 460 V8 engine. The power steering pump makes noise when you turn the wheel or step on the brakes (it provides hydraulic pressure for both) and needs replaced. The exhaust is leaking at the right side of the engine. We believe that it needs an exhaust gasket on between the head and the manifold.
Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with a similar vehicle?
We have estimates of $450 parts and labor to replace the power steering pump. Not sure if the exhaust issues are anything more than the gasket.
The chassis and bins are in good shape for their age. The hydraulics and bucket mechanism works.
The caution lights mounted on the boom do not work which could indicate a wiring problem or simply burned out bulbs. The previous owner replaced the "bucket operate" switch in the cab.
All of the other lights on the vehicle work.
Does anyone know where we could obtain a wiring diagram for this vehicle?
We are seriously considering the purchase. I need to avoid any hidden issues down the road.
