My 98 Chrysler Town & Country minivan has a very elusive electrical starting problem.
99 percent of the time it works fine but every once in a while when you go to start it after having turned it off (usually at a very inconvenient place) you get absolutely no response(no sound,no clicking) when you turn the key to start it. When this happens the instrument panel gages are all flatlined(no power to them), however other electrical works (radio, heater windows lights etc.). I've had the ignition switch replaced and that wasn't it. Battery, starter etc.all ok.

Curiously, it always seems to start right up again when you try it later on after a couple hours.
It is such a sporadic problem that I can't get anyone to pin it down.

Your ideas would be appreciated.

I believe your relay for the starter solenoid has dirty contacts or is failing, (personal experience) find the rely clean the plug ends and tap the relay on a hard surface then re-install it if this does not help, then
try cleaning all the relays.... water damage can cause this for instance did you recently use a motor cleaner pressure washer?
