im looking to get rid of my car and since ive put all the money into paying it off (i have another car i drive so no i dont need a replacment vehicle) ive talked to some coworkers who are telling me they think if i swap out the old engine for a rebuilt engine($600 ish) id have to buy it will fix all my problems and i can get rid of it for something since the body is completely undamaged.
the car has issues shifting and accelerating will not go past maybe 35. its a tiptronic so going up hill it wouldnt even work in auto so id have to switch the stick and it wouldnt budge going uphill anything past 1st. i have a blown head gasket, my check engine light is on and my abs light is on. my codes read that my turbo is gone, my is gone and cylinder 1 and 3 are misfiring even after switching in new coil packs and spark plugs...
could swapping the engine really fix all that just so i can get the car running well enough to get rid of it?
please give me any advice. i dont want to make a decision i could regret if im going to put money into getting it repaired after all ive put into it already. too many headaches already. (and i have someone with 19 years experience to work on it)
