A bag contains 20 gum balls. if there are 8 red, 7 white & 5 green...?

what is the minimum number of gumballs one must pick from the bag to be assure one of each color?
 
You would think 3, but the answer is 16.

To be absolutely assured of each color, you can pick the first 15. They may end up being all the red and white ones, you'll never know. If that happens, then the next one would be green.

Just because youj pick 3 doesn't assure you that you have picked one of each color. Youj may end up with all of one color.
