I've got this friend who I've known since we were about 12 years old - we're both 17 now and in college. In high school, he was a bit of a nerd, to tell the truth, but he wanted to be seen as cool; he'd deliberately forget his homework, or do impressions of cartoon characters, which were funny at the age of 12, but by the time we were 16, he was a bit of a laughing stock; even the Year 7 kids used to ask him to do impressions; if he didn't, they threatened to beat him up, so he obliged.
Anyway, we're now in college, and in December, he started to go out with the best friend of his best friend's girlfriend, if that makes any sense. They're appalling when it comes to PDA; if you're talking to him, he'll start making out with his girlfriend while you're half-way through a sentence, and then gets angry if you walk away, claiming you were being rude by ignoring him and his girlfriend.
They've got a new habit now they've started sleeping together, of grabbing and stroking at each other's crotches in public, usually on the bus, or in front of everyone in college. Maybe I'm being a prude, but it's beginning to annoy me; me and a friend have tried talking to him, but he just says 'There's nothing wrong with it, we're in love. I wouldn't mind seeing people doing that in front of me.'
Am I doing the right thing in avoiding them completely, which is what I'm doing, and upsetting the girlfriend, who thinks we're 'really close friends', when I find her annoying; she's obsessed with biting people, or scratching people to make them bleed (she thinks she's a vampire, or so she says), or would it be better to hang out with them, and risk throwing up all over them?
