A car question...Mazda Mx-5?

I am hoping to purchase a 2002 Mazda MX-5, I really like the style and performance of the car. But i have been looking around like on craigslist, carmax, and vehix but there seems to be very few. Why is this, are they popular so no one wants to sell? What should i expect to pay for one? Where would be the best place to buy one?
