I have a rosemary plant in the backyard, it's not growing well, mostly because it doesn't get enough sunlight.. So I am planning on moving it to the best lit area in the yard..
Is rosemary plant, which only got transplanted to the yard from a pot a year ago, shock resistant enough to withstand a transplant?
I live in an area with massively clayey soil, poor for water drainage, and as far as I know, Rosemary likes well drained soil.. Would digging a not too deep, but wide hole, and adding compost to bring in earthworms (the vegetable patch nearby has a few to spare, lol) to work the soil, be better than digging a deeper hole?
And what sort of soil mixture should I use? I am not too concerned about the flavor and smell right now, I just want it to get taller faster, so if I provide it nutrient rich soil, like scotts topsoil and mix perlite for good drainage, sound like a good mix? How about the addition of gypsum and lime?
