It is apparent from the answers that that there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site. It is also apparent that these answerers do not consider the points system when they answer; all that they are concerned about is the welfare of dogs.

One of my main concerns is that the Asker is invited by Yahoo to choose a best answer too soon. There are answers from fourteen year olds who haven’t a clue and answers from new dog owners who are equally clueless. Often the clueless Asker chooses a best answer from someone who simply agrees with them.
Is it possible that we could all unite in our endeavours to help dogs? Could we all suggest that the asker tries out a solution before they choose a best answer? Again I realise that points are not in the equation for most of the caring people who answer questions. However it is vital that we ensure that new and inexperienced dog owners are given helpful advice.

If a new dog owner who asks questions does not know that anyone without a modicum of experience can advise them, their dogs will suffer. In future when I answer questions I will suggest that the asker tries out all of the sensible suggestions before they use a remedy or suggestion which is recommended for their dog. Could we all do this?

Whilst I am on my “hobby horse” and this is my only criticism about caring answerers. I think that you all SHOUT in a very aggressive manner about people who want to breed. There are daft people who think that they should allow their females to breed with a different breed. There are also people who spot a likely mate for their female in a field who is from the same breed as their female and they want their female to mate with an unknown dog. I deplore all of this.

Unfortunately all the experienced answerers SHOUT at the asker and say that their female should be spayed. YES it should be spayed; however I think that instead of SHOUTING that it should be illustrated to the person who wants to breed that they are putting their female at risk. I also think that instead of SHOUTING about having their female spayed that we should SHOUT about the risks and the veterinary expense of their dogs producing puppies and the possibility of their females dying.

End of rant.
