A question about the LG Rumor and the microSD?

I have had the rumor for a Few shy months of a year. It's time to upgrade. My mom bought me the microSD along with the phone. All I want to know is if when I go to switch phones, will the micro have All of my numbers, pictures, etc automatically saved? Or must I save them all myself? And If I must do It myself, how?
