A queston for all AMd notebook users... howz the performance?

I want to purchase 1 , and install ubuntu with XP.... what will be the advantages and disadvantages if compared to intel
I like AMD Athleon 64 bit dual core... with 1mb L2 cache... compare it to core2duo 2mb L@ cache... that AMd note book had boad with Ram expandable to 8GB and than Intel had max 4 GB ram...
