A simple step by step guide unlock bootloader and root a sony ericsson xperia arc?

After suffering with Sony Ericsson bloatware for many months, i decided to attempt rooting my device. Im currently on build number 4.0.2.A.0.62

However, i cannot find any simple step by step guide to unlocking the boot loader of my phone (one on sony developer site says im unable to unlock - but i know this can be changed)

please could someone find a easy step by step guide on how to access the bootloader.

Also, a guide to rooting the device of the above build number will be greatly appreciated!

I would go to androidcentral.com and ask this question. More people will see it who specialize in this stuff and be able to help you out.
