I was playing back a VHS cassette of Live Aid (Recorded since 84, rarely played and not been recorded since...). The VHS kept ejecting itself when played in one deck. And when played in another deck, no picture on screen, a constant black static on the tape. Assuming that I had mistakenly recorded over the VHS, I checked the tab. Broken.

Thats what caught my eye. The white reel in the tape (when you look at it from a top down view) has offically snapped. I.e. No recordable black tape. The place where it says do not touch the tape, no tape in there either. So it's all clogged at the left end.

Prior to this, it was working and playing like a VHS should do, albeit a little color distortion which is to be expected from a casette which is 25 years old this year.

So, how can I repair it, in other words? Hope the info given helps :)
