Help yourself, but I don't care enough to figure it out, nor worry about it at all for that matter my friend. I'm not going to waste my time worrying about what the Chinese did with their religion or what they do with it now.
But i have never engaged in a game of bash the christian either. Just talked about abortion and his pro lifer views. Not bash the christian because some atheists are pro life too. I guess my game was bash the pro life view.
thanks man... we can agree to disagree... that's fine. I want to make it clear that just because someone doesn't have my views do I feel like they are lower than me or somehow this horrible person. It's the way I was brought up and how I believe and that's it. I really don't feel at all like I push my beliefs on anyone ... or at the very least I would like to think that I don't.
Definitely heard of it, given I'm a bit of a keanu reeves fan (i love the bill and ted movies and Speed as well) I havent actually seen it though. I may get crucified for that, given that its been around a long time and i still never watched it
Blade, I'm not bothered about your views on abortion one way or the other, but saying that you are a Keanu Reeves fan offends me on every concievable level. It's tasteless and frankly downright disturbing.
I'd just like to clarify here - are you talking about near-death experiences, or are you talking about accounts of genuine ressurections of people who then convert? If it's the second I'd be fascinated to find these accounts.
But you are saying that anyone who is not saved, who does not end up (at some point or another) believing the same way you do will be going to hell. In fact you are saying that I will go to hell, because I have to be honest - if I die, and find out there is a deity of some kind who claims to be loving and caring, I'll go down to hell with a smile on my face after renouncing it and cursing its name.
Actually I saw your screen name and instantly assumed something to do with one of the loonier branches of the church.
Plus you obviously don't know anything about Satanists. You're getting awfully close to calling the blood libel down on a religion you're blatantly ignorant of. Are you going to go the whole hog and accuse them of sacrificing babies next?
I do, but I try not to let it show too much.
I'd agree with you there. I find the whole 'I'll pray for you' thing horrendously offensive.
Nothing wrong with that, but it is an idicator of the importance of religion in the poster's life. To then come out and deny it is what I find objectionable.
Great. Where are these accounts of people being resurrected? Medical science wants to know!
Perpetuating ignorance is not particularly funny. Blood libels even less so - it is the accusation usually used as an excuse for killing the heretics/blasphemers/etc. It has been used against just about every religious group at one time or another, and I would have thought you'd have the decency not to continue the propoganda.
Lots of things are not meant as offensive, or insulting. They still are.
Praying for my safety, or my family's, is insulting as it suggests our safety is in the hands of some supernatural being that none of us believe in - and that you believe we lack the capability to ensure our safety ourselves. I want none of it.
Praying for me to see things differently is downright offensive, though admittedly divine intervention is the only thing likely to change my perspective. You claim to be open-minded and happy to live and let live, yet praying for someone's mind to be changed suggests there's something fundamentally wrong with them in the first place.
It's patronising and insulting. I request that you save your effort and do not pray for me in the slightest, I want none of your religion for myself - even if it is true I long ago decided that I will take responsibility for my own actions, and not have them foisted off onto someone else to suffer for me. Even were I a believer that would be the case.
I'd prefer to burn in hell than have my mistakes (arbitrarily decided by some deity) visited upon another.
Sincerely meant is even worse. There is nothing wrong with me, someone praying for me to be 'fixed' is just downright insulting - and worse yet, people seem to see it as a positive thing.
Ifni save us from well-intentioned but ignorant prayers.
