Activating and Transferring contacts onto old phone? (verizon)?

I got a new phone a while back; and it stopped working recently. I still have my old phone; and i was wondering if i could activate and transfer my new contacts onto my old phone; without going into the store?

call verizon. under your battery there is a serial number or something. they will ask you for it. if your contacts are in your old phone and you can't turn it on, then you prob won't transfer them. also check online about switching phones. maybe you can do it through the website.
