I tried to put the Advantage on my cat at the base of her skull like the vet tech said, but she moved around so much that it ended up getting on the top of her head and her ear. I called Bayer corp. that makes Advantage and the guy said to try to soak it up with paper towels. He suggested bathing her head, but I know her and that's not possible. He said if she contacts it with her paw and licks her paw it will cause drooling, no big deal. He said if she contacts it with her paw she could get it in her eye and it would be irritated, not good but not terrible, the terrible thing is she could scratch her eyes because they itch and damage her corneas. He suggested making a little suit out of a tube sock, I'll try, he said it will cover her head, I'm not sure it will fit her. If I have to I will borrow my mom's van and drive to the emergency vet 20 miles away for an E collar. I have to stay up all night to watch her till it dries. Any suggestions? Vet tech at Bayer advised me.
My mom will only let me borrow the van if she actually starts scratching her eyes (she is notorious for not taking care of animals, sometimes I don't think we're actually related). My car won't make the twenty mile trip to the next town, it overheats about 15 miles into the trip. My regular vet in town does not have an emergency number.

This doesn't necessarily answer your question but I just had to put Frontline on our cats and the one must've gotten some of it in his mouth and eyes, etc. He was 'drooling' and his eyes were irratated and watering, etc. I went ahead and used a wash cloth with dish soap to clean him off a little (his head, eyes and paws) but even with his reactions, he made it through and is doing just fine! :) So, I would suggest wiping off the medication that is within her reach and just kind of watch her, but she'll probably be fine!

I think you'll be fine. Our cats freak out and wiggle when we put it on too. When the stuff gets where it shouldn't, I just use a dry washcloth and rub the area briskly to dissipate the stuff. It's rather oily, so it doesn't absorb so much as disperse and dry quicker.
