advice for a hedgehog newbie?

Getting a hedgehog in a few weeks time. I've been doing some research for the past few days. This is what I plan to use for housing and bedding
Housing: old hamster cage(when it's still young) then plastic storage bin(s) when older.
Bedding: fabric

What else should I know about hedgies besides what you can usually find online?
 
dont keep it in a plastic storage bin! how will you expect it to breathe..... and if you take off the top, it will make ur house smell.......
if your ok will the smell, then itll be fine i guess XD
