Advice for Stereo system for Vauxhall Astra?

Hi, I have a 2001 Vauxhall Astra sxi. I was wondering, If I fit a new radio, would I lose the controls that are on my steering wheel for the existing radio? I know that I can always just ask someone in the store, but I'm just browsing for a new radio and I was curious.
