To the person who asked, no I am not joining an army. The complications stem from the fact that being Jewish is more like an ethnicity with a religious tradition attached, not solely a religion. Therefore it is unlike Christianity, Islam, or any other 'Religion' for that matter.
 
No, but you need to tell people in general that you are Jewish, in order to be able to make Jew jokes without being called a racist. Wearing a yarmukle helps too.

I do understand where you are coming from.

My point is that your personal relationship with God is most important regardless of upbringing, religious education, or whatever type of morale programming, not to mension "religion". God is what you expect but much better, so to confide in God is to allow yourself to be in accordance of perfection.. No religion can give you that.

P.S. Your ethinicity is originally - of God -. Why change that into any other "title" or "religion".?.
 
You don't have to. My mother converted because my dad was, and it's not a big deal. You are not obliged to tell anyone, a rabbi, a gabbi. Also, you can't just say you'r jewish. You should speak with a rabbi to convert.
 
I am not Jewish, but my best friends family is. The polite way that people ask is "Is your mother Jewish?" It's still a question that people discover the answer to either way. It will matter more to some than others. People will occaisionally discuss which tribes their family is affiliated with. I think there are some kind of kinship rules related to this, but I'd need more information to be sure.
 
No, I would not think so. I never heard a fellow Christian come up to me and say "I just gave my life to God yesterday."

Even if they did they would not say it out of obligation.
 
Absolutely not.
After conversion, no one is ever to mention the convert's status or speak disrespectively of it.
