After rendering with xvid codec so the vid file ends up good quality and a small file size - when placed in movie maker only the plain white background appears without the text that should be there ????????
Movie Maker (and usually Media Player) gags on Xvid and VidX encoded videos. You've got to recode using another codec. Try one of the wmv codecs. I've had H264 AVIs work in the Vista version.
