Why pilots prefer to fly at high level or as high as they can? Knowing that the pressure is intense with the passengers on board...

Flying at a high altitude uses less fuel, because the air is thinner and air resistance is lower. For the same reason, airplanes can fly faster at high altitudes.

High altitudes also place an airplane above most weather and turbulence.

Additionally, altitude is safety in aviation. At 35,000 feet, there is nothing in the world in your way (even Mount Everest is a mile below you), so you don't have to worry about hitting the ground. At low altitudes you have to keep an eye on your charts to make sure you don't run into a mountain, but at high altitudes that's not a problem.

The altitude makes no difference to passengers in pressurized airliners.
