I just got a new MacBook Pro and it really is an expensive machine. I want it to last as long as it can possibly be. I've been reading about how to charge it properly since the battery had been the problem with my previous laptop. Most of what I read said that the new Macs (like the one I got) don't need to be calibrated every single time. They say it would be better if I don't drain it all the way, then bring it right back up all the way, too. Most state that I should bring it down to about 80% then charge it back, then keep it plugged in then use it on battery power if I'm mobile again without bringing it down to lower than 20% and then charge it back up, repeating this process and cycling it. I've been doing this since I got the Mac.
But my dad is so stubborn, I keep telling him that this is how it is charged but he keeps insisting that I should drain it then charge it back up again. Like some of the old computer models.
I need help! What should I really do? If I'm charging it correctly, please answer this question so I can prove it to my dad and so that he'd stop bugging me. And if I'm charging it incorrectly, please answer also and tell me the proper way. I wouldn't want to destroy my Mac... :/
