...entrances to my house? I am registering as a childminder and as it is a place of business do I need the 'it is illegal to smoke on these premises' signs? Although I do not smoke, I will have a no smoking sign anyway but I know it is illegal to put up the wrong sign.

Yes you would be required to put up the signs for the safety of the children being exposed to second hand smoke in confined places!!

All business are required to provide health and safety guidance as in warning signs in all company buildings or vehicles used in business.

This depends on the ordinances of your own jurisdiction. Your Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau can help you. Your Secretary of State may also have helpful information for you.
