Amare Stoudemire of the New York Knicks could be out for a while. If he’s on your fantasy team, you should probably make plans to be without him for the rest of the season. Amare Stoudemire has been diagnosed with a bulging disk in his back and the Knicks are saying he will be out for an indefinite amount of time.

The good news is that surgery isn’t in the cards right now. Instead, Amare Stoudemire will receive treatment. The Knicks are hoping that with treatment and rest, Amare Stoudemire will be able to return for the playoffs.

Even when he’s been able to play, Amare Stoudemire has had a disappointing season. Last year he averaged 25.3 points per game. This year, he is averaging only 17.6 points and he’s shooting 47.7% from the field — his lowest mark since his second season in the NBA.

Without Stoudemire, the Knicks will apparently go small with Carmelo Anthony at power forward, Landry Fields at small forward and Iman Shumpert at shooting guard.
