remaining piece they need to buy? is the triangular plot shown in the figure. Use the determinant formula for the area of a triangle to find the area of the plot. (Each box represents 1,000,000 ft2.)
the points you must use for the matrix are (1mil,2mil) , (5mil,4mil) , (2mil,6mil)
It won't let me answer in scientific notation im so lost too many zeros!! thanks
so the answer is 7000000000000? the answer wont let me enter it in scientific notation it wants all the damn zeros!
 
You don't need to use 1000000, just use 1 and realize that the final answer, after you get DETERMINANT is AREA = (1/2)*DETERMINANT*(1000000)^2 = (1/2)*DETERMINANT*10^12.

Scientific notation should then be no trouble.

I assume formula mentioned is DETERMINANT=
| (5-1) (4-2)|
| (2-1) (6-2)|

= 4*4 - 1*2 = 14

and area =7*10^12
