This is with the latest ban list. I want the deck to be exactly 40 cards, but I'm having trouble with that. Please let me know if there are cards that wouldn't work well with the deck , and what cards would be good replacements.

Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem
The focus is really to get either Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, Overdragon, or Cyber Eltanin out as quick as possible for a OTK. I'll need to use multiple archetypes of machine monsters, which is why I have the Ancient Gears (they have a nice trap-cancelling effect, plus good support cards) and the gadgets add draw power and are great tribute fodders. I can't just have one archetype, because I like to have multiple possibilities in my deck.

If I were you, I would just focus on one type of Monster. (e.g - Cyber Dragon, Gadgets, or Ancient Gears.) It seems to me that you have good Cyber Dragon cards in your Extra Deck and good monsters for a Cyber Dragon deck. If you were going to make a Cyber Dragon deck, I would first take out any monsters that don't relate to Cyber Dragon. (e.g - Gadgets and Ancient Gears. Cyber Monsters would be okay.) Then, go through your extra cards that you didn't use in your deck and see if you have any that relate to Cyber Dragon or Cyber Monsters. Once you do that, gather some spell cards that help out Cyber Monsters. (e.g - Limiter Removal to up the Atk of your Monsters and go for an OTK if you have a clear shot, or Luminous Spark to up your Cyber Monsters with 500 Atk/Def if they are Light Monsters.) Then, do the same thing with Trap Cards. (e.g - DNA Surgury to make them all Light for Luminous Spark, or Call of the Haunted to bring back Cyber Monsters.) Once you do that, you can always go and trade some cards you don't need for some you do need for your deck. I think you have a good selection of cards in your Extra Deck. The main thing is to focus on one Monster that you build your deck around. If you do, then you'll have a better chance of getting that monster out and kicking some butt with it. As Yugi said before me, "Believe in the Heart of the Cards." Once you find your "Heart of the Cards" I'm sure building and focusing your deck will be much easier. Besides, having more than one monster you're focusing on can be hard, since there are so many possibilities of cards to add to your deck, it would be hard having to pick out the ones you want. And good job on wanting a 40 card deck. It will be easier to get out the cards you need. If you need to, research some cards on the site below. They'll have good tips for Cyber Dragon decks, Ancient Gear decks, and Gadget decks. Whichever you pick, I'm sure you'll be able to make your deck powerful and balanced.

P.S - I found out if you have a 40 card deck, this is a good idea for a balanced deck.
5 7/8+Lv monsters, 5 5/6Lv monsters, 10 1-4Lv monsters, 10 traps, 10 spells.

50 card decks: 7 7/8+Lv monsters, 7 6/5Lv monsters, 12 1-4Lv monsters, 12 traps, 12 spells.

60 card decks: 9 7/8+ Lv monsters, 9 6/5Lv monsters, 14 1-4Lv monsters, 14 traps, 14 spells.

P.P.S - My method to building a deck from up above will work for any monster that you want to be your "Heart of the Cards."

Hope this helps!
