Ok this may sound more like a rant than a question but after what i learned today and heard i had to ask some questions about it. Im getting the htc incredible really soon and "supposedly" its to be at the top of the android smartphone heap, even rivaling the iphone 4 now they're saying 2 maybe 3 more smartphones are due out at the end of this year with 1.5 even 2 ghz processors that will put recent releases like the x and dinc at the bottom. is it wrong to be feeling like right when im about to buy the best of the best google makes more to make mine supposedly obsolete and even the new system updates require 1 ghz processors which the dinc has but i feel like future updates from google will be incompatible with my phone even though it was just released this year how is that. But anyway the question..
1. android 3.0 or gingerbread is supposed to be the end of the 3rd party ui's is this true, the reason i want an htc phone is because i want htc sense and all the features and interface that comes with it why would i want an upgrade that gets rid of that, thats the whole point im getting an htc phone and
2. the supposed htc scorpion or whichever is supposed to come with 3.0 and can root ive heard of a new app called easy root that can root your phone for you with one click, is rooting something i should do, what am i missing without it cant i just do the same with an ota official update. yes the question is long but this new info doesnt really seem fair to people who pay 200 for a phone that could be obsolete next year and any info is appreciated

2nd question: NO, you don't need to root, all it will do is just update your phone like everyday, pointless, time wasting, and from what I've heard, your phone gets locked until the update is done.

1st question: Welcome to the tech lounge, this is exactly what's been going on in Electronics for the last 20 years. 20 years ago, Windows 3.1 was the shit, in the blink of an eye, Windows 95 comes out and 3.1 software won't work anymore, and all new software required Windows 95 to run. Sounds like an old story, but same thing now.

Technology becomes obsolete after 3 months, there are ALWAYS newer, and faster products every few months, BY THE SAME COMPANIES. This is the problem with updates as well, you get a few minor things that you don't need and sacrafice things you DID need before.

Windows XP was great, upgraded to Windows 7, lots of visual effects and idiot friendly software with a Media Center. Gave up functionality, command prompt, and a lot of other ACTUAL USEFUL stuff.

In summary, this is life in the techno-realm. In a few more months there'll be a 2.5GHZ processor in phones, you can never have the BEST of anything, if you did, you'll be buying new phones, TV's, Computers and electronics every month over and over again forever.

ADVICE Get the phone, take it to someone who can "HACK" it, and have them roll back the drivers so you'll have the 2.0 version of the OS.
