Android Game Development, Where Do I Start?

Hi, I want to start learning how to program for the Android but don't know where to start. I have installed the SDK, and did the Hello World Tutorial found on http://developer.android.com/resources/browser.html?tag=tutorial I compiled it to my phone and it worked. But I want to dive into Game Development Tutorials, don't know where to turn for that. After searching the internet for about 2 hours, I have been running around in circles. Theres a lot of engines to choose from, there is AndEngine which is free, there is Corona which is a annual license, and then theres Unity that costs a lot. I'm obviously not a professional, just lookin for a hobby. Do I even have to go with a engine of some sort? I was under the assumption I could just make a game with the SDK alone. Is there any sites with tutorials for that, that I am unaware of? Thanks!!!
