Anthem by Any Rand, future of America?

I am reading the book Anthem by Any Rand for school. It's a really good book and easy read. And this book was written with a purpose, there is even a state wide Competition that you you could win up to $2000 cash in.

But any way the book is like a future world, but it's like the past. Society collapsed and in the new Society people can not have the own opinions or preferences by law.

There is no "I" only "We" in Anthem. All are equal except the people in charge. But even they are considered equal by every one else.

So is this book what the world is heading for? If so how far off is this time? From what I've seen, what the government is doing now, that time does not seem that far off to me. If this happens can we reverse it? Or stop it from happening in the first place?

I've never read it but it sounds a lot like 1984. And if you like that, then you should read Brave New World. That's what the world is coming to. It's a more believable prediction than 1984 and easier to read. But it may not be as good as Anthem, but like I said, I've never read that.

i LOVED that book
i definitely think this is what the world is heading for. it seems close. expecially with all of the financial problems in the world. i don't think we can reverse it at all, perhaps we can try to prevent it...or hold it off so it doesnt happen so soon, but im not quite sure HOW.
