Any free or low cost programs for smoke alarms for the deaf?

I have two and half almost three year old twins. I just found out in the last two weeks both of them are deaf. I am not looking for smoke detectors to put in the house. All of the one I have found are horribly expensive. I am a single mom putting my self threw college right now so money is a huge issue. I am in california if there are any state programs. Thanks

My first advice would be too look for some sort of program for the deaf. I don't know if you could find it on-line or in your local phone book. I live in Indianapolis and we have a #211 number to call as a clearing house # for all needs. Perhaps you have something similar in your area. I would think that California would lead the nation in such resources!

If you go looking, I'm sure you can find the smoke detectors. Plus, you might find many more available resources. If you come up with dead ends, go back to the doctor who pronounced the twins deaf. He/she should be able to help you initiate your search.

God bless you and your babies!
