First state your thesis (what the whole thing is about. Then sum up each of the parts you will be explaining. That's always a sure fire way to start up, oh and to grab attention, think of something catchy to say before the thesis that applies to the essay. Like if it was about tornados you could say. "What. If your home was distorted?"
