Any tips for traveling to Egypt THEN to England in January?

My husband and I are travelling to Egypt then to England in January, and are trying to work out how we'll manage with clothing: going from a country with a hot climate and lots of outdoors, to a cold climate and haveing to dress up and look a bit fancy.
Any tips from seasoned travellers?

i went to egypt during christmas 2007, and i thought it was awfful. If your woman going out alone, cover yourself up (Head and neck scarf). The weather in December was ok, not freezing but not very hot.

I didnt like it but others have different tastes
