A 1968 Chrysler Newport with a 383 automatic. Motor needs love. I found a great deal on a 345 AMC with a four speed all done up. Are there any mount swaps or cross-member brackets that I can use so the motor will Bolt right in?
Any past experiences with this kind of application would be helpful. I am asking for specifics here

make new motor mounts for shure and check to see it the new trani will line up with the cross member.

You are looking for a lot of problems. Swapping a Chev engine or even a Chrysler engine into an AMC vehicle makes sense. Cant see a reason anybody would take out a 383 and replace it with an engine that was never very popular, hard to get parts for and really never all that good to begin with. To compound this with switching an auto transmission for 4 speed, with all the custom linkage clutch etc. fabricating is bound to cost you major money. Spend it on rebuilding your 383 or replace it with another 383 or 440, things will bolt right in.
