Anyone ELSE ABSOLUTLEY HATE TWILIGHT?

Okay I totallllllllly agree with you! My IDENTICAL TWIN SISTER is completly OBSESSED with the books, as are ALL of my friends (INCLUDING TWO GUYS)! I mean WTH is wrong with these people? Read some GOOD literature for once! All the characters are cut DRY, plain, with ABSOLUTELY NO flaws!!!!! WTH?!?!?! A vampire love story, with SO many holes in the plot (a boring plot to begin with) Don't bother reading the books. Don't bother watching the movie. It's a waste of your time and money. Anyone who will TRY to fight this is completly insane! I mean seriously a VAMPIRE LOVE STORY? *coughs* immature reading. all these teenagers need to grow up, and see that their "beloved edward" is abusive, controlling, and most of all NOT REAL. Their "beloved bella" is MOST OF ALL NOT REAL!!!! but also has no mind of her own, has no self confidence, and latches herself to edward, completly dropping her friends, family, desires, and her future in school.

I have read the first book and actually enjoyed it, but halfway through the second one I just gave up and put it down. It was so boring. And yes, the characters are so...predictable. Bella's your usual damsel in distress that has to be rescued by everyone and how Meyer keeps describing Edward Cullen was just plain sickening. She just keeps ranting about his marble chest, his hair (whatever color it was), his velvety voice and whatever "fabulous" about him. Whoever said perfect characters don't make perfect stories is absolutely right.
I don't hate Twilight, I just don't like it, and how tweens obsess over it. Seriously. The day before the premiere of Twilight here, the tween tension in my high school was so great you could stick a tuning fork in the air and it vibrate all by itself. Meyer is kind of smart, writing a book most tweens would go gaga for (since tweens rule the world nowadays) but she also made the teen world dumber than it already is. Sigh.
There was also a time where Twilight got compared to Harry Potter, and how someone mentioned that Twi (shortcut, I'm getting tired of typing Twilight all the time) was better than HP and that was just plain...unbelievable.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't see a Twi book in school and it's kind of disappointing because people could read other books with so much value other than this. I hope this Twi fandom will die quickly...or not. They still have 3 movies to do. So I'll crawl in a hole until it's over (kidding). This book is not worthy of the praise it's getting. Sigh.

alright. so after all of my friends read the book and became obsessed i decided hey why not?
it is pretty amazing but nothing to go around killing people for. calmm downn.
i think that it helps w/ edward being mr perfect
love the series& i actually just purcased Breakind Dawn(:

wow you dont hang out with your friends because they're different and read twilight? seriously, and people say WE twilighters are immature. i dont really care what others say about twilight. im an original twilighter. i read it wayyyyyyyyyyyy back when it wasnt even popular yet and the hype was unknown. now its too popular and i hate seeing new people reading it but i dont HATE it.

anyhoo. twilight is not a fad. it is not a trend. its a fucken book.

Why does everybody hate Twilight? IT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!! But I agree you shouldnt want to kill sombody for hating it, people can have their own opinion.

You should rent a dozen vampire movies, watch them, then forgive yourself for saying that Twilight is the best movie ever.

Need suggestions?

Nosferatu
Lost Boys
Salem's Lot
Fright Night
Underworld
Interview with the Vampire
From Dusk Till Dawn

Shit, I'm even going to recommend:

Shadow of the Vampire
Once Bitten
Blackula (for laughs)
Queen of the Damned
Blade
Lifeforce

Or try some tv shows:

Buffy
Angel
Dark Shadows

Yeah, maybe some of these suggestions are shitty movie/tv shows but if you're going to claim that Twilight is the best movie ever, you should at least have seen a wide variety of movies.

I'm just sayin'

Twilight Is Garbage

I wish twilight didn't exist, all I ever hear about at school is how much all of the girls love the book and love Edward. It seriously pisses me off. My girlfriend is obsessed with the book, to say the least, and she and her sister have already gone to the movie theatres three times to see it since it came out two weeks ago!!! Oh my good golly goll that is pathetic and I am so anxious for when the hype for the garbage is over with.

I love the setting of this book, a dreary, dark, small, Washington town. One that seems dull and ordinary, but has an unnatural feel: perfect for a vampire story. Other than the setting though, I thought this book was extremely overrated. I agree that Bella was helpless and dull; all she did was think about how insecure she was and how much she loved Edward. I got the point she really, really liked him in the first half of the book. Edward was my least favourite character. Not only did he wear turtlenecks, he had an unbearably witty way of speaking and was too perfect. In every way. I mean come on! After you find out how handsome, smart, rich, musical, athletic, strong, sparkly, and loyal he is what's the point in reading the rest of the book. You know whatever trouble Bella gets herself into, Edward will obviously save her because he's got everything going for him. Also, Edward is always talking about how he has to save Bella and how very hard it is to keep from eating her. I hate that whole sacrifice, love thing that Stephanie Meyer writes about. And how come Edward and Bella never talk about anything but themselves and each other? Politics, music, books, fashion, art, skateboarding, anything? It feels like they don't even know each other.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about Bella. It’s odd because she is so focused on Edward it’s as if that’s the only thing going on in her life. She might as well be suffocated by him instead of bitten.
That is, it goes on and on about how beautiful/amazing Edward is in every possible way. …That is, Bella keeps looking at him and describing his perfection and cold (but perfect) skin and amazing (perfect) knowledge and (perfect) tolerance/patience—and did I mention perfection? She even says this near the end, that Edward can do anything and does everything he tries perfectly. And not in a mocking tone, either, though she’s somewhat irritated by the idea by that time. I was irritated much sooner than she was. Maybe it’s different when you’re sitting in the room with perfection, but I’m just reading about it and I already know already, thank you.
What Bella and Edward have isn’t love, you can’t fall in love just like that. Love takes more than just looking hot; I bet that if Edward was ugly, Bella wouldn’t have taken a second look at him. It’s an insult to female’s intelligence and shatters what women have fought so long and hard for.

psh everyone's talking about that book because there's a damn movie....if there wasn't alot of people wouldn't even had picked up the book.. To be honest ive never read the book but im not going to just because everyone else is... It came out in 2005 and ive never heard the media going crazy over it.. -.- plus the movie is crap seriously dude its like a bad version of the HBO show trueblood. My sister, who read the book when it came out says the cast looks nothing like what they should look like. that dude who plays Edward is not as "beautiful" as he was described in the book. You know i really hate it when people learn about books through movies.. they read it only to try to be down or whatever lol yesh that kinda pathetic. how about cracking open a book once in a while? oh ya the harry potter series is so much better than this book.. It's much more real and you actually feel for the characters... Im sure the books are good but damn im tired of hearing about how "cute" whats-his-face is lol (he's not)

Twilight is amzzing : )

omg !!! twilight is absolutly amazing
thank you very muuch !

Twilight has to be one of the worst books ever. It is cheesy, corny, and retarded. Tons of people at my High School are obsessed with it, even going as far as to copy HAIRSTYLES from the movie!!! C'mon now. It is a friggin fantasy book. Edward is waaaay too perfect. REAL Vampires-like Lestat from "Interview With a Vampire", and incredible book by Anne Rice-are not perfect and they are not obsessed with saving a stupid human girl over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Its a horrible fad that i hope will die down soon so i can stop hearing about it.

Oh dear what is with this book full of fantasies that love and romance is all sparkle and I love edward so much?
1. ok,, he isn't even a proper vampire-they kill people,, and they don't sparkle
2. Edward ISNT perfect-infact they knicked Cedric from Harry Potter, so yeah get over it
3. Bella is a whingy, whiny little idiot with absolutely no lyf
4. Why is this book so popular the woman clearly has no sense and needs to learn how to write a book
5. Twilight is not the new Harry Potter- can I just point out that Twilight is a total and utter waste of paper, whereas Harry Potter is a cleverly, cunninngly, smart and imformative piece of literature- which actually has time and care put into as you can tell. It contains so many important topics-whereas Twilight is namby-pamby poorly written fanfiction, written by a thicko who can't even put the time or effort in, and obviously has nothing going in her sad little life apart from fantasising about seemingly perfect old sparkly vampires. OH DEAR

So Twilight Fans
GET A LIFE

Thanks
On behalf of all the Harry fans who understand true literature and that no-body is perfect

R--x

Oh well!!!

omg I love twilight, how can you hate it, and no, it is not just about a guy who falls in love with a girl and he rescues her, it is about overcoming the perils of your teenage years, and how a girl who doesn't seem to fit in with anyone in a town, finally finds the one she loves, and freinds she can count on, it also gives the peice a sence of irony. This obviously appeals to many readers. Including me, but I do agree that there seems to be alot of hype about this book.

Making a point...

One of my closest friends is completely obsessed with this story (both the book and the movie). I'd just like to make one point (no, two points) about my view of the entire caboodle:

1. Twilight is a book. People read books because they want to enjoy them, not to fit in with friends. Please, if you are an obsessive teenage girl, do not badger reluctant friends to read the book; they'll read it if they want to. If all your friends have read it and you have no idea what it is, just leave it. Whether it is great literature or total tosh, it doesn't matter - you'll read it if you want to, not if your friends want you to.

Now, on to my personal opinion.

2. The idea of a romantic relationship between teenagers (please, don't comment that vampires are immortal) is a risk, even though it happens. I, myself, am a teenager, but I don't like the idea of a temporary romantic relationship: there will be heartbreak and sorrow and hatred at the end of it. Permanent relationships can only exist after the age of 21 (when the human brain finishes developing, and as I see it, a person therefore becomes a young adult at 21. Anyone younger is a child and should be treated as such). Authors shouldn't write teenage books focussing on romance because this will most likely cause teenagers to want to grow up 8 - 10 years too early.

I actually think that the book itself (just the concept) is total trash, but regardless, I appreciate the fact that it is a book and has a cult following.

twilight sucks vampire balls

I agree with the first guy. I read about 100 pages of the book and couldn't keep going. I'm a 21 year old dude and started to feel like i was growing tits while reading that girly crap. Are women really not creative? The author sounds like an idiot. And don't all the little girls know that the author wrote in that ignorant way on purpose just to make money? The little bitches of the world fell perfectly into her plan. You made a mediocre writer filthy fuckin rich. And the movie is even worse. The only honest review i've read for it was on a site called wacktown.com. And i know that poor guy is going to get pummeled by fans.

so my husband and i just read twilight out loud to each other on our way from cincinnati to florida and back again (for thanksgiving). we knew beforehand that it would be ridiculous and dumb, but we didn't know it would be unreadable. seriously nothing happens for the first 300 pages. painful.

anyhow, i found this funny website just listing things that are better than twilight. it's not mean, just funny. stuff that's better than twilight: Stuff That's Better Than Twlight. i think it gets updated pretty regularly. stuff that's better than twilight: Stuff That's Better Than Twlight.

it's not really fair to say you hate new people reading it i didnt hear abt my favourite band until they had been going for a few years it doesnt mean i like them any less than somene who has liked them from the beginning.

Twilight is the most awful piece of shit i've ever read. The writing is terrible, the character development is...well, non existent and throughout the series it only gets more and more cliche.

Oh, and Meyer should just admit she's watched Buffy and read Anne Rice's novels, because i seriously doubt the idea for vampires to have 'marble' skin just appeared out of thin air. That's Ms Rice's idea, and she should at least acknowledge where she stole/borrowed it from.

The idea behind the book is terrible, but all the more understandable when you are informed Meyer is a Mormon. Read the book of Mormon and investigate their customs and you'll see where a lot of the chauvinist/misogynistic ideas come from.
