I hate them Twilights too

Ummm...I would like to go through 24 hours without hearing about the Twilight series.
I've never read Twilight, never really wanted to, didn't see the film...not planning on seeing it either. I don't care, I don't care I don't care! It gets really annoying when people are saying thanks to Twilight on Thanksgiving. I'm sure the books are good, but the fact that they're everywhere and it's just being played over and over again on the media that you should read the books and see the movie, just turns me off. It makes me wonder if even half of the fans actually like the series personally, or just because it's been hyped up and the commercials on TV and the shows you watch tell you it's awesome. I love how the previews for the film say "a cultural phenomenon", like a human falling in love with a vampire. So yeah, has anyone heard of Bram Stoker's Dracula? It's a love story, vamp loves girl. I guess it is original to have this subject take place in modern times involving two teenagers, and everyone knows that teenagers are experts at true love. Am I right?

I really love it this conversation:

Random person: "Have you read Twilight?"
Me: "Nope"
RP: "Want to?"
Me: "Nope"
RP: "why not?"
Me: "um, because I feel like reading Dracula instead, or maybe some Anne Rice."
RP: "okay...wanna know what happens?"
Me: "Not really"
Rp: "okay so bella blah blah blah, hot guy blah blah blah, vampires...yada yada yada"
Me: "okay"
RP: "why don't you just read the series?"
Me: "because I just don't care about Twilight, it doesn't catch my interest. I've seen it before, it never really intriqued me."
RP: "OMG the movie is coming out!"
Me: "yeah, I own a tv too"
Rp: "wanna go see it with me? please"
Me: "sorry, i don't."
Rp: "please!"
Me: "i really don't want to see it, and I don't want to read the books. all the hype on it just convincing me even more"
RP: "okay, when i get back from the movie, i'll tell you everything"
Me: "ummm... I DO NOT CARE"
Rp: "I read 100 pages of New Moon today"
Me: "you read? whaaat?"
Rp: "i really wanna finish the chapter, I only have 10 pages left. I read twilight in 5 days. my sister read it in 3, and my cousin read it in less than a day. it's so good. i love it, i cant wait until i get the next one"
Me: "yeah i read books too, but i don't need to announce it to the world"

I just want to be left alone, besides, I don't want to read the same books as my little cousin in 8th grade. I'd like to read something more challenging.

By the way,
it's so phenomenol that the Critics hate it, and they love True Blood.

I personally think True Blood is more of a cultural phenomenon than Twlight, because what show have you seen that has vampiresin modern society (coming out of the coffin" and fighting for rights? That's all I'm saying.

I don't hate Twilight, it's just that every day someone, somewhere is trying enfore the series upon me. All I wanna do is watch Sofia Coppola movies okay, when she writes a book, then you can tell me how good it is.

Yeah this probably won't ever get read but hey! I hate twilight. I don't hate the book itself. I mean, iv'e only read a couple of pages, (though from what I did it seemed pretty dull), but I just hate what it does to people! Everyone in my school is ALWAYS going on about it and how amazing is and how they love Edward Cullen. Everything is always, Oh my god, I just finished Eclipse! It was amazing.. I'm a twilight lover! Eurgh. It drives me insane. And god I agree, from the sounds of it, everything is so predictable. Honestly, I think it's like the noughts and crosses series: A challenging read for a 9 or 10 year old but a very addictive plot. But the Twilight series has just been blown way out of proportion.

Completely agree!

I don't know who else has heard of it but I swear everywhere single place I go, I keep hearing about this book called "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyers and it is driving me insane!!! I have actually read it and it was terrible. It's directed towards 15 year old girls whose only concern is meeting the perfect guy who will rescue her and basically take care of her and blah, blah, blah ( I’m 14 read the Twilight didn’t bother with the rest of the series), a Prince Charming if you will. It's complete rubbish! The guy is a vampire (yes you heard me) and literally saves the girl like 5 times throughout the book. That is basically the point out of it. I seriously laughed out loud while reading it because it was so predictable and pointless. (Yes I read it. I do not believe in criticizing or praising a book without reading it first) It's 450 pages of a girl somehow getting in trouble and then what's his face comes in the nick of time. And this was an assignment for Honors English, so yes in some sort of way; I was forced to read it.
I have been to countless boards, stores, internet sites where I hear these young women praise this book as "The best book they have ever read." Isn't that tragic? That's the problem with today's society. Young women should be reading classics, empowering stories or at least something they can get something out of. All this book does is reinforce the notion that women need to be rescued and that there really is a Prince Charming waiting to be found and that once a girl finds him everything will be happily ever after from then on or if not that she’ll have a godlike amazingly handsome, immortal vampire dude that is willing to kill the world for you. I was at school the other day and actually saw two of my classmates including my TEACHER crying, yes crying about how Edward saved Bella at the end of the book and how much he really loves her and how cute it is, I of course in a daze, nearly fell off of my chair at how pathetic they sounded HE’S A FREAKIN BLOODY FICTIONOUS CHARACTER, PEOPLE GET A LIFE. I believe in love and I hope every girl who wants to find some amazing guy does but this book is complete nonsense and to hear a 46 year old English teacher dish about how much they love a "Vampire" just really depresses me.
Love isn't magic. There is no such thing as a fairytale and as much as I love the Little Mermaid to believe that's how it turns out with every girl would be a discredit to my intelligence! I would love to see people praise a classic like The Count of Monte Cristo or Pride and Prejudice, The Kite Runner, and A Thousand Splendid Suns. To enjoy a book of fiction or get lost in it is fine but to have faith in it to believe it's what you want for yourself (like marrying a freaking vampire!!! yes, I heard my teacher say she wants to marry this guy!!!) is just mind boggling. Perhaps I am just venting but why oh why is this book getting so much praise?!?!?!

I'm so glad to finally find some people who agree with me!
Twilight is possibly the most frustrating novel to ever grace the face of this earth. I read Twilight after being hounded by my friends for months and months with promises that I'd "love it!" and that it would be "the best book EVER!".
I sat down and read it in one day, put it down, and quite literally began to laugh. The thing had ZERO plot. NONE. Three quarters of the thing can be summed up like this:
"'I love you," Bella said to Edward, marvelling at his perfection.
'I love you, too," Edward replied, hating himself for the words as he said them because he knew he was a killer born."
Done. That's it. The "climax" takes place at the very end, and it was hardly a climax at all. Bella gets into trouble because she was a complete moron and Edward, perfect as he is, comes to her rescue.
Bella comes to town. Bella falls in love (in barely any time at all, and in a completely shallow and unrealistic way). Edward falls in love with her. They're all "lovey-dovey". Edward is tortured (and portrayed in an entirely too perfect way...his "tragic flaw" is hardly tragic). Bella gets into trouble. Edward saves her (over the span of about two pages). The freakin' end.
To top it all of, Meyer can't even write! Her style is very child-like. She puts no depth to her characters, each one instead becoming a characature of a single trait. Bella = Damsel in distress. Edward = Self-depreciating perfection. All of Bella's high school friends = Morons from a bad teen movie. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
The book reads like it was written by a teenager. Things happen too fast and without enough description behind them. Meyer is too focused on making the reader swoon over Edward to make any other discernable plot or setting descriptions understandable or realistic.
But possibly the worst part about it is that Meyer RUINS vampires! She hadn't even read a vampire novel before she wrote the book. Maybe it's just my humble opinion, but as a writer myself, it's MANDATORY to read books in the same genre you're writing about before your write one of your own. I love vampire novels. Anne Rice, Bram Stoker...they did vampire stories well. It's perfectly fine to put your own twist on the myth but...
Edward SPARKLES. It's not that they burn up horribly in the sunlight...they SPARKLE. That, my friends, is something your NEVER MESS WITH when referring to vampires. They're nocturnal. To take that away takes away the fundamental trait that makes them what they are.
The book has no literary value whatsoever. Its only purpose is to have Bella's name scribbled out by heartsick teens and replaced with their own so they can moon, "Now Edward is in love with meeeeee!" It's a complete Mary Sue.
It's just infuriating that there are so many talented authours out there who struggle to make it, and Meyer, with no talent at all, makes millions. I respect that the book has gotten so many people reading, but it's tragic that they choose to read a book with no value.
Fight the power, people. I'm not Team Edward for Team Jacob. I'm Team Anti-Twilight...I read books that have some form of substance.

And Twilight Lovers Think the Haters Are Mentally Unsound? Ok...

ok. i have some questions 2 ask you before i start fuming.

1.ARE YOU INSANE!?1?!?!?!?!?!
2.WHAT ON EARTH COULD POSSIBLY BE WRONG WITH THIS SERIES!?!!!??
3.What is your name, address and phone number, just so that i can track you down ank kill You with my super awesom vampire powers THAT I AQUIRED FROM READING THE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!
4.do you WANT a cult of angry twilight luvers like mysef at your doorstep at night trying to behead you????? you shouldnt voice an absurd oppinion like this on the internet.
5.(this isnt a question, more of a statment.) you must have not read much good litterature in youre life, because if you cannot appreciate the quality of this art.....YOU ARE MENTALLY UNSOUND!!!!!!!
6.thank you i think i am done fuming.(*takes a deep breath)
7.pls email me at [email protected] i would luv 2 argue with you firther.
byebye, you are insane
-biteme<3

Okay so you think someone is crazy for not liking Twilight, so you threaten to kill them with powers you acquired from reading a crappy book? Seems to me like your the one who is mentally unsound. And art? Are you kidding me? Twilight is NOT art. It's a slapped together fanfic-quality novel filled with Mary Sues and ridiculously over-used cliches along with Stephenie Meyer interweaving her religion (Mormon) into it. How it managed to get published remains a mystery to me. Seriously, calm down, grow up, and realize that not everyone has to share the same opinion as you. Also, crazy Twilight fans like you are just another reason why people hate the books.

Notice how all books put their star reviews on the back of the book? You don't see that with any of the twilight books.

One of my friends is gaga over the books. I'll be honnest, at first I was (perfect guy, romance and all that crap) but then through the book i started realizing how useless and pointless the character bella is.

I am all for female power, and that stupid character makes it seem like all girls are clumsy idiots who need to be rescued every time their shoes are untied.

And the writing style sucks. Seriously, I can go through page after page and I am 100% sure that the word "breathless" will be there.

Also, there is no in depth to Bella. Nada, zip, zilch...we learn that she's clumsy and has "average looks". OH WHAT HORROR! It must be terrible to be like every other person in the world!

And Bella gets cured of these things the second she turns vampire...mary-sue? I think so!

Twilight lovers, please give me specific reasons why the book is amazing.
Edward's hot? we've heard it.
Jaccob's hot? heard that too.
It's romantic? Um, it tramples on everything romance stands for. It's supposed to be awkward, kind, and it takes time. They just need to look at each other and WHAM! In love! And please don't say that Edward watching her sleep is romantic. if a guy said to you, "I've been coming into your room for the last month and watching you sleep." I would call the police after I had bashed in that stalker's skull.

And Edward sparkes...nuff said.

Twilight is clearly based on a dream, as dreams have no beginning, middle or end, just a vague, strangely repetitious plot. If written my an actual author it could have been something great, but Twilight is a load of modernised romantic crap that instead of releasing you into another world, instead make you think how crap and unmagical your own life is. Shame on those people who are yet to realise this, when they do it will be a hard knock to their system. Twilight will be a cult, a one-hit-wonder which will shortly disappear to be replaced by something better. Even the author has stated she will not be the next JK Rowling. Her books lack magic. Harry Potter is a cult classic, Twilight will never be more than a forgotten memory.

Okay, you are what, 14? HAHA. you seriously are full of it! You really gotta stop acting like you know it all because you obviously don't. Those books are better than anything you're dumbass mind could come up with. Loosers like you need to stop posting these sights, go get a life, and stop hating. suck it

p.s. twilight is the shit and you are a peice of shit

For all that is good and holy, if you somehow have the shallow brain capacity and like Twilight, go read Interview With A Vampire. Compare and contrast. See how Anne Rice sends Stephanie Myers into another dimension.

Vampires without FANGS=Bad Story.

FUCK TWILIGHT. i heard a woman on National Public Radio (the radio station for sophisticated people) mention that the new faggoty vampires are "boring". Oh, i so whole heatedly agree. i hate those pussy vampires, i hate every drama queen fat emo chick waiting for Prince Charming to some along and bring them away. Wake up, dumbass, you aren't going to be saved as you are too heavy for a vampire to carry. want a real vampire? look no further than Dracula or Alucard (from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night). Bad ass with no regards for anybody. oh, if you would like to argue with my stereotype or how i say i am sophisticated but i curse just remember, diverging the topic to discuss irrelevant semantics, then by all means do so but remember that diverging the topic means that there is not true defense. Thank you.

i hate twilight. from its fairy vampires (seriously, if you were really a man you would eat the bitch) THAT GLOW (why would somebody do that? really? it destroys the badass attitude of Dracula and other vampires) to its selfish protagonist and its bland predictable story line. and don't even get me started on the cheesy melodramatic quasi-romance. i hate these books and everybody who reads them (espessially for the romance). if you cant find a woman (or man) in your life, that's your own damn problem. Dont make this book sound amazing when it is, in reality, a complete waist of existence. "Best book(s)/author ever" my ass. you want good read Tolkien or even Brian Jacques if you're too young to understand LOTR. and if you read and enjoy these books, i assume you are. dumbass. THREE CHEERS FOR NO LITERARY QUALITY!!!

Thank goodness I'm not alone

I laughed out loud constantly while reading this series. The writing is awful, the plot is predictable, the characters are barely one-dimensional, the book is riddled with inconsistencies and contradictions. I held out for a long time before submitting myself to the torture of reading this series. All my friends had read it, and kept pushing me to read it. I finally caved when I was sick of being left out of every conversation that revolved around Edward and Bella and Jacob.

But even I was surprised at just how bad these books really were. Bella and Edward have no interesting character flaws. Perfect characters are ridiculously boring. The big conflict of the series revolves around whether or not Bella should become a vampire - which is actually not a conflict at all since Stephanie Meyers' vampires are practically perfect beings. Who wouldn't want to be a vampire as Stephanie Meyers portrays them?

And I hate the way Meyers tried to force in allusions to actual literature (Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights). It was almost like she thought she could improve the timbre of her work by forcing similarities to the classics. It made me especially angry because I love Wuthering Heights and Meyers trivialized it. She tried to compare one of the great dark love stories to her own silly little fantasy about a perfect man who falls in love with a perfect (if somewhat clumsy) girl.

It really makes me fear for this nation when a book like this makes it big. What does it say about the average intelligence of a country when its citizens claim that a teeny-bopper romance novel with no depth is literature? I have even heard people claim that this series is a "work of art." Seriously? I truly do worry about this country.

You needn't worry about your country, dear, we all should be worried about THE WORLD. I've read better writing written by highschool students, yet the whole world insist that this hideous thing is a great "work of art". It's not even worthy to be called Literature. It's a badly-written self-insert fanfiction that should only be kept to oneself.

So Twilight was recommended to me by a few people, so I decided to read it to check it out. IT IS OFFICIALLY THE WORST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!! It is SOOOO pointless! It's like it's been written by a lonely 8 year-old with no friends or life-experience WHATSOEVER. Everything about it is so pathetically unrealistic that it makes me bored just hearing the word Twilight. IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!! At least 20 people I know are obsessed with it and literally counting down the days until it's film release...yawn. I'm probably wasting my time writing this cos nobody's gonna read it. :P
Oh well! :)

P.S. This is a hint for anyone who hasn't read it ... not to read it. :)
P.P.S. I hate the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld too :)

I'm with you guys, Twilight sucks! I don't want to go any further explaining why I hate it, because the person at the top of this post has already.. pretty much got it covered.

It's sad, low and pathetic that you wan't to argue over the internet to people about how much you love it. Just because you love it, it doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Anyways, Buffy kicks the ass. Not some 'Edward Cullen' dude, who SERIOUSLY does not "dazzle me." I mean, c'mon.. have you SEEN the guys hair? Most of the stuff in Twilight originated from Buffy, because Buffy is the original. Simple as.
