I've seen recommendations for this anime for people who like Death Note and similar things, but is there anyone else out there who just thinks it's just stupid? In my opinion, the blood and gore of Elfen Lied was NOTHING compared to the abuse in Jigoku Shuojo, it's just painful to watch! Seriously, what the hell? And the revenge isn't even comparable to what happened to the victims! Not only that, but everyone who calls upon the hell girl gets damned to hell when they die. That's not even fair or logical for the victims. Sure, you can say whatever you want about religion, but the way I look at it at least murder or suicide wouldn't guarantee a sentence to hell.
It's absolutely painful to watch, and not even satisfying in the end. I don't think I'll ever understand how people can adore this. I think it's simply stupid, there's enough abuse to look at in the real world, WHO the hell would want to be watching MORE abuse in their free time when they're supposed to be enjoying themselves?
