Anyone else really not like the word lesbian? ?

I just really don't like being referred to as a lesbian. It sounds bad to me for somereason. Anyone agree?
 
Whenever you think about it, it is an odd word. Gay is also sometimes. I wish we could just be referred to as people.
 
i like it just fine... way better than wordslike f@g0t and other such vulger words. what else would you have them call us?
 
I don't really have a problem with the word lesbian but I prefer gay instead. Lesbian sounds kinda funny to me lol. When I tell someone my sexuality, I say im gay.
 
But the action of the tongue when saying the word is so appropriate to what it describes.
 
I think lesbian and gay are ok, words like fa/ggot, dyke and homo I hate.
 
I think it's likely that society has us pairing it with something negative and with a negative tone. You hear a bit of disgust in the tone of some people when they say the word lesbian...a hesitant sort of speech around that word...

It does sound a bit harsh though with the "b" in the middle of the word. It's so abrupt... (took a poetry course, which is why I can now look at each letter in the word)
