anyone know how to find out the previous owners of a house using the internet?

i was just wondering if my house has any previous owners that may have died in my house because i believe that ghost exists in my house.

Several ways but maybe not on the net. Are you UK?
If so you can check back dated telephone books in the reference section of your main library, and also whilst you're there you can check the electoral register year by year. You could also check planning permissions at your local council offices for free and possibly land registry, but I don't think they do an online search any more.
 
you can search on the census's for 1851 -1911 ( at 10 yearly intervals) and local phone directories which date back to about 1930's (collections of these can usually be found in large libraries)
 
You can try an address search at 192.com but it will cost!
