Anyone know how/ why fashion changed over the fifties?

I'm writing a paper over fashion and one of the required topics is
Choose a decade in the last 100 years and explain how and why fashion changes during that time period.
I chose the fifties because I love Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, and Liz Taylor. Please help!
 
They liked poodles but over the years and many feelings and wars, we decided we don't like poodles skirts
