An appeals court ruled yesterday that most bone marrow donors can be paid, overturning decades-old government policy in which such compensation was a crime punishable by up to five years in prison. It's about time. Paying for bone marrow will hopefully attract more donors—which could save more lives. I think that outweighs any squeamishness people have about the issue.
