Are all Vw Golf's 5-speed?

I'm looking to buy an older version of the Golf (approx. '99-'02) and I was wondering if they only come as manual 5-speeds or if they come in automatic? Also, is it possible to engine swap and turn the car into an automatic?

1999 Volkswagen Golf GL model does come in 5 spd. and 4 spd automatic .
it is very expensive and too much to change in order to switch around from auto to manual or the opposite because you don't just change the transmission , it's all operated by a micro computer programed chip. not easy. so just keep looking I think the production of manual in this car is a lot more than the automatic but they did produce automatic.
