Are certified cars a rip off?

I'm looking for a 2005-2007 Honda Civic EX or SI. They are very much available but should i pay all the xtra money for a certified one? Honda's are great cars with very few problems. Do i really need that certification and warranty? Maybe someone has experience with this. Let me know what you think.
