Are international calls on weekends free? I have T-Mobile?

I live in California, USA, and I want to call my friend in Canada. If I call my friend on the weekends, such as Saturday, will the call be free? Or will it cost money? Because I've called my friend in Seattle many times after 9 PM, and I never got caught by my parents. So, will it work for my Canadian friend for weekends? No, I'll be calling BEFORE 9 PM for my Canadian friend.
