They are all fake. Even if it's a live audience they are prompted to laugh (and some feel like they SHOULD laugh) at certain times. So even if it's a real person, it's still a fake laugh. Also, even with "live studio audiences" most of the time those laughs are enhanced with more pre-recorded laughter during editing.

In the early days of sitcoms they were, but most modern sitcoms are taped in front of a live studio audience and most of the laughs that you hear are not fake. There is, however, a common practice called "sweetening" in which a laugh track is used in addition to the studio audience, but this is not the same as simply using a laugh track for every laugh.

duhh, most are! Just pay attention, some are pre-recorded, but some shows are recorded in front of a live audience. You can usually tell when the laughs are pre-recorded.

most are dubbed with canned laughter even the ones that are "recorded" in front of a live audience have enhanced laughter added if the producers and writers did not think the jokes went down as well as they hoped.
the worst all seem to be from U.S telly where not only do you get OTT laughing at things that are not even amusing but you get "wooo-wooo " type shouting at lame jokes and spontaneous applause when ever some one enters the room
