Are Maserati cars overrated?

Hardly. They make very fine GT cars even though they have their flaws in terms of the drive.

Maserati is all about the sense of occasion. Yes, there are cars that are quicker and easier to understand, but Maseratis provide a presence and drama about them that really only Lamborghini can top.

The MC Stradale feels like a proper supercar but also has a pretty plush ride and one of the best soundtracks from the exhaust this side of a Ferrari 458 Italia. Speaking of Ferrari, that's the company the engine that resides in most Maseratis. So they all sound absolutely astounding and they have 444hp as well which is plenty of power for the intended audience.

The Quattroporte Sport GT S also makes a beautiful noise and has a pretty plush interior as well. The suspension is a bit hard for a saloon but that doesn't detract from the sense of occasion it produces. And then you have the GranCabrio, which has recently received the Sport treatment with the same engine as the GranTurismo S. Combine that with the soft-top and it's a pretty jaw-dropping thing of beauty.

The tunnel blasting and the lap of the Quattroporte (4:11) in that video show off what an incredible noise the 4.7L Ferrari V8 makes.
