Are Richards (Prodrive) & Texeira (A1GP) whining too much...?

...about the customer car ban?

I think the fact that redbull are constantly making it to the top ten (Webber has been 7th twice and 5th once) is proof that you don't need customer cars to make a decent team.

They have been getting better and better and they have outperformed Renault many times. Do you think these guys are just lacking commitment?
by "these guys" I mean Tony Teixeira and David Richards of course.

Yes, they are. David Richards owns Aston Martin. It's inconceivable to think that they can't use some of the expertise to develop an F1 car.

As for Tony Texiera, waaaa! If you want to be someone's "b" team, get a team in GP2 aligned with a current F1 team. It's that simple. The teams are supposed to design and build THEIR OWN cars. There are plenty of series in the world-including A1GP-where you can have a customer chassis and be successful.

Well I think that though customer cars are dull for technical fans and a hard pill for little teams like Force India to swallow, but customer cars have always been a part of F1 and motor sport in general so I don't see a problem.

I agree that customer cars have been part of F1 for years and years, but i think that nowadays, when there are so few teams in comparison to then, that making your own car is the fairest way, even if it is duff... its your own fault...

I don't understand why Prodrive doesn't use its other motorsport connections to get an engine deal... their Aston Martin cars are pretty much the best GT cars going... why can't they take that expertise into F1? Again they have the technical staff to make their own chassis... or they could collaborate with chassis builders like Dallara or Lola... much like BAR did with Reynard in the early 00's (Dave Richards was in charge there at the time... strange??)

I just think they were trying to take the easiest route... getting existing cars and probably using McLaren's tech for development... even Super Aguri and Toro Rosso develop their own cars regardless of who made them in the first place... and taking the easiest route isn't going to win favour with the existing teams...
