Are stereos allowed in intense care units? (one-room)?

My friend is staying at a children's hospital and I was wondering if it'd be okay to give him a stereo to listen to in his icu.

Many hospitals encourage small radios in ICU to help with healing. ICU's tend to be sterile places and all business and music can be a much needed sensory stimulation. Where I worked we turned the TV on in the daytime and off at bedtime even if a patient did not seem to be aware. The family usually would set the station to what the patient liked. It helps with the long term effects of being in a place where you can't tell if it is night or day. Ask his nurses if its ok. It probably will be.
