Are T-Mobile Smartphones now all on 4g?

I'm using a G1 and wasn't sure if it now runs on 4g.
I haven't upgraded my plan or anything but I am paying the 30$ a month for internet is it automatically upgraded to 4g or do I have to buy a 4g phone?
 
The G1 cannnot use 4G, you'd have to buy a specific 4G phone like the Mytouch 4G. (:
