Their short-term predictions aren't coming true, and it's not warming anymore.

So to keep the fear alive, in a manner in which they can't be held accountable, they're making predictions of terrible calamities that, of course, won't happen until after we're all dead and gone - meaning that they won't be around when they're proven wrong again.

Does that sound about right?
