Are the rumors true about promiscuity in the gay community?

I'm interested in having a relationship with a woman. But every time I have someone in mind they end up hooking up with someone else before I can get a chance to be close with them. I'm just not interested in sex before I make a connection with someone. Am I having bad luck with the wrong people or are a lot of people in the LGBT as promiscuous as people say they are?
 
More and more, it seems like the AVERAGE person is promiscuous, not just in the gay community...especially if they're 30 or younger. It's getting to the point where if you're not interested in screwing someone you barely know or hopping from "relationship" to "relationship," then YOU'RE the oddball, unfortunately.
 
Ok, reading through most of the answers and i must say: i disagree with most of them.
The thing is: there will always be sluts; male, female, gay and straight.
obviously there are straight girls who have 3 boyfriends a week but then you dont label all women to be promiscuous!

There will always be the people (that you guys seem to ignore) that want a real, long lasting relationship. there's always those couples that last forever.

Now, if you where thinking of a straight couple for that last paragraph, re-read it as a gay couple and vice versa.

I've been in a monogamous gay relationship for the past two years - obviously not a long time but we intend to be together for longer.

to re-iterate, im not saying that all of the gay community is like me, but their definitely not all sluts either.
 
I have rarely observed long term monogamous relationships in the gay community, but they do exist. I have observed the same petty arguments, breakups and jealousies enjoyed by the heterosexual society. The reason I say enjoyed is because of the theatrical flare expressed by these individuals. I feel that these displays were phony as the type of relationships one can share in an unnatural setting. We were not designed to have those kind of relations, We were obviously designed to propagate. Some people argue monkeys dogs and other animals have homosexual relationships. My answer is I am not a monkey or a dog and I question science classifying me as an animal. They will probably yank me for this one. some people can't handle the truth. I am also disturbed by gays trying to distance themselves from pedophiles. A homo sexual act is just that regardless of age. I had a pedophile try to seduce me and it was homosexual acts he had in mind. Those in prison rapping others of the same sex that don't think they are homosexuals are also wrong. They are homosexual acts.
