...illegal? Are there any martial arts that are so focused on causing death that they are illegal? I thought I had heard of one before, but I can't recall its name. I know all martial arts can be used to kill someone, but are there any that are so death focused that they are illegal in the US to teach?

That's in China, not the U.S.

In China, there was a style that focuses on deathblows and strikes only and the government got so scared that their citizens were learning that style and made it illegal according to both national and military law. They even burned all the books teaching it and made it illegal for people to say anything about it. Only the top secret members of the Chinese government have copies of the original material and NOBODY will tell you that it even exists (except for some citizens who are clever enough to have memorized some of the techniques)

You can't do this in the U.S. because of the freedom of information act and the constitutional amendment regarding free speech. The U.S. would NEVER ban the teaching of a martial art but could evaluate it's use or abuse in a given scenario only.

Krav Maga is not illegal. And most martial arts, with the exception of a few, were designed with the intention to kill. Today's world is not as hostile as it once was, so you don't see it as much.
